Under the supervision of the Outpatient Operations Manager, the Lead Coordinator of Patient Access Services will partner closely with management to ensure effective operations by organizing, scheduling, and monitoring the department workload.
This position will act as the main point of contact for complex issues and problem resolution as related to patient registration, referral, and enrollment functions.
Education, Licenses, Certification, Skills and Experience Requirements:
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Work
Experience:
Three years of related experience in health care Required Skills:
Excellent customer service skills Basic working knowledge of computers and computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook Email, etc.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with interdisciplinary team including physicians, therapists, and nurses.
Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally Keyboarding skills including ability to use an Electronic Medical Record Exceptional phone etiquette Ability to multi-task Driving Requirements:
Valid Wisconsin driver's license and appropriate auto insurance coverage as required by North Central Health Care.
Must have the use of a personal vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, Education, Licenses, Certifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Care Administration, or other related field.
Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Essential Job Duties and
Responsibilities:
Understand the EMR used by the organization and how data is accurately entered and maintained, including demographics and billing information.
Assists in oversight of pre-admission process by confirming payer credentials of providers, gathering, and entering patient information, and securing payment information.
Complete preadmission benefit verification as requested by admissions coordinator, including benefits, precertification requirements and copayment amounts.
Manage various reports and associated data, including Televox and No-Show.
Maintains an effective scheduling system with and ensures accuracy of information to bill for services.
Act as primary point of contact for Patient Access staff and provide support and guidance as needed.
Maintain the master schedule for all Outpatient providers in the Tri-County area.
Leads patient access training efforts under the guidance of the Operations Manager.
Provides evaluation/insight into staff performance for professional development and training needs.
Manage and provide patient access coverage as needed.
Review provider schedules and assess for opportunities to maximize efficiency.
Review and close encounters within the EMR as needed.
Creation and adjustment of provider EMR templates (blocking, PLT, etc.
) Review of daily outpatient appointments to verify accuracy (insurance information, authorization information, etc.
) Maintains regular on-site attendance.
