Position
Summary:
Assist in the care of patients by performing portions of the patient exam and a variety of preliminary tests according to the physician orders and nature of the patient visit.
Principle Duties and
Responsibilities:
Assist physician with patients Escort patients to and from exam areas, may be required to assist patients with walking, by pushing wheelchairs, lifting and transferring Complete and accurately document testing, patient's health history and medications Complete lens prescriptions, medication forms and patient instruction forms Screen and document visual acuity findings, glaucoma testing and various other ocular testing Provide patient information concerning their eye care Perform refractions, to determine patients' glasses prescriptions Communicate with physicians to ensure patient satisfaction Other duties as assigned Work Relationship and Scope:
The Ophthalmic Assistant works closely with physicians, patients, and other medical floor staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High School Graduate Demonstrates knowledge of proper, safe, efficient usage of office equipment, computers, and software.
Ability to work in a fast-paced medical facility while adhering to HIPAA compliance regulations Strong aptitude with computer software and typing skills Ability to develop good working relationships with physicians and staff Must obtain Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification within two-years of entry into the position Understanding of medical terminology and basic anatomy of the eye Knowledge of examination equipment and instrumentation, operation, and maintenance Ability to convey a positive attitude and be able to work well independently Previous experience in a medical office desirable Work Conditions:

Acknowledgement:
Eye Clinic of Wisconsin has six locations; while staff will be assigned to a home location; travel to satellites is a requirement of the position.
Hours of work will be dependent on the needs of the Clinic.
Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Occasional lifting (30 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs is required.
